WHO’s THAT GIRL?

The question everyone’s asking…

As a born-and-raised Jersey girl from a small shore town, I’ve always longed for a life overflowing with creativity. Though I think it’s planted deeply in my DNA, I believe it truly started when I first opened a magazine…

From that moment, it all made sense. I felt like I stepped foot into a fabulous world, and I was in on a secret no one else knew about: there were people behind every aspect of these magical magazines, from the words, to the pictures, and everything in between. I thought, “This is it. This is who I want to be when I grow up.”

Judging by my teachers’ praise, I knew I had the writing part covered. Later on, in my early Instagram/Tumblr years, I learned I’m not too bad at the picture part either. Then and there, I recognized my generalist tendencies. I learned that I loved doing a little bit of everything (softball, dance, theater, the newspaper) but I had no idea it would help me to create the career of my dreams…

So, like any small town girl, I headed to Manhattan to make that dream career happen. I thought the answer would be waiting for me there, but turns out, it was in my bedroom, on my computer, where I finished my degree in 2021. Not exactly how I imagined it, but everything happens for a reason I guess…

Scrolling through LinkedIn, I kept seeing the word “Copywriter.” What was this fascinating title that I never heard in any of my journalism classes or marketing seminars? After reading through job descriptions, I once again felt like I was in on a secret…I could be one of those people coming up with the witty phrases and colorful descriptions I see online and IRL. And much more, my favorite niches needed them: the fashion world, the food-i-sphere, the lifestyle companies. I felt like I hit gold.

And the rest is history!

I was fortunate enough to make this dream of mine come to life when I got hired as a copywriter by Free People in 2022 (something 2014 Tumblr Gwen would not believe). There, I continue to make my mark by writing witty subject lines, not-your-average product descriptions, and engaging editorials packed with personality.
